Nose clip

Other glossary entries

A nasal brace, also known as a nasal splint, is a medical device used to support or correct the shape and structure of the nasal entrances. It is used as a diagnostic aid or to support nasal breathing during sports and sleeping.

Material and design:

Nose clips are usually made of lightweight but sturdy materials such as plastic or metal and are designed to conform to the shape of the nose. Depending on medical indication, they can be placed on the outside of the nose or on the inside of the nostrils.

Wearing comfort and care:

While nose clips provide the necessary support, they are usually designed to be comfortable for patients to wear. Caring for and cleaning the braces and the skin underneath is important to avoid infection or skin irritation.

The use of a nose clip is often used as a diagnostic aid and preparation for a surgical procedure. If the patient notices an improvement in nasal breathing as a result, surgical rhinoplasty can be a sustainable and permanent solution.
